Hereshoff in the 1930's.
Travelled across the south Atlantic to Brazil
,Guiana, Caribbean & up to the eastern seaboard of the USA. Across
the north Atlantic, through the Mediterranean.
To date ,vessel has completed 28,000 sea miles in a very
seaworthy manner with the original owner / builder.
Hull is cold-molded of mahogany -1st layer is 18m/m strip planked
with 2 diagonal layers on outside. Fully saturated with west system
epoxy giving you a very strong wooden boat with the maintenance of
fibreglass.
Decks & cabin top are teak with marine ply underneath, sloop
rigged with a sturdy aluminium mast, complete with mast steps ,
stainless steel rigging and a double head stay, one being roller
furled, second one removable.
A lead keel forms a full keel with an outboard rudder supported
by 4 large stainless steel gudgeons. Stainless steel pulpit &
pushpit with intermediate stanchions.
Below decks is open plan teak furniture, creating a warm &
wonderful home .Two bunks & a quarter berth ,lots of storage
lockers, bookshelves, comfortable galley & a full size forward
facing navigation station. The forepeak contains the heads, anchor
chain locker, large workbench, drawers , rope locker & sail
storage. A drop leaf table is also stowed here.
There are three stainless steel diesel tanks under cabin sole
each containing 60 litres (180 litres total) complete with inspection
plates.
Then two stainless steel water tanks under the bunks each
contain 100 litres.(200 litres total) a simple 12 volt wiring system,
all fire proof silicon wire run in conduit with easy access throughout
terminates at an electrical panel at the nav station.
Cockpit lockers & lazarette provide external stowage.
The engine is a Yanmar 2qm20 & with good access.
The beauty & success of this boat is the simplicity of all its
basic systems, with full access to everything & use of the very
best quality equipment.
